It’s wild how fast your life can spiral because someone at a credit bureau can’t click the right box. A few months ago, I found out equifax reported me as deceased—discovered it the hard way when my direct deposit bounced and HR flagged something weird in my records. Long story short, I lost my job over it. Yep, a real loss of employment due to deceased notation. Apparently, being “dead” makes you ineligible for payroll systems. Took weeks to fix, and no one wanted to admit fault. You’d think proving you’re alive would be easier. Anyone else ever get digitally killed off like this?
